Here's how it works.

Initial Consultation

The process begins with a consultation with your dentist. They will evaluate your oral health, take X-rays or scans, and discuss your medical history to determine if you are a suitable candidate for a dental implant.

Treatment Planning

If you're a candidate, a personalized treatment plan will be created. This plan outlines the number of implants needed, their placement locations, and the type of restoration (crown, bridge, or denture) that will be attached to the implants.

Dental Implant Placement

On the day of implant placement, you'll receive local anesthesia to numb the area. The dental implant, which is a small titanium post, will be surgically placed with a small incision at the site of the missing tooth.

Over the next few months, the implant will fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This integration provides a solid foundation for the implant to support the dental crown.

Abutment Placement

Once osseointegration is complete, a small connector piece called an abutment is placed onto the implant. The abutment protrudes above the gumline and serves as the attachment point for the dental crown.

Impression and Restoration

Your dentist will take impressions of your mouth to create the dental crown. The dental crown is customized to match your natural teeth in terms of size, shape, and color.

Placement of Final Restoration

Once the dental crown is ready, it will be securely attached to the abutment. Your dentist will ensure that the dental crown fits comfortably and looks natural.

Follow-Up Appointments

After the dental crown is placed, you'll have follow-up appointments to ensure that the implant is integrating well and there are no complications. Regular check-ups are important to monitor the health of the implant and surrounding tissues.

Long-Term Care

Proper oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are essential for the long-term success of your dental implant. Regular care will help maintain the health of your implant, surrounding teeth, and gums.

Why are dental implants useful?

Choosing a dental implant to replace a missing tooth is a decision that offers both functional and aesthetic benefits, contributing to your oral and overall well-being. Consult with your dentist to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants and to receive personalized guidance based on your specific oral health needs and preferences.

  • Restoration of Functionality

A dental implant restores your ability to chew, bite, and speak properly. It functions just like a natural tooth, allowing you to enjoy your favorite foods without limitations.

  • Preserves Jawbone Health

When a tooth is lost, the jawbone underneath can start to deteriorate due to lack of stimulation. Dental implants mimic natural tooth roots and provide the necessary stimulation to maintain bone density, preventing bone loss and preserving your facial structure.

  • Long-Lasting Solution

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants are a durable and long-lasting tooth replacement option.

  • Aesthetic Improvement

Dental implants closely resemble natural teeth in both appearance and function. They are custom-made to match your existing teeth, creating a seamless and natural smile that boosts your confidence.

  • Non-Invasive Adjacent Teeth

Dental implants do not require the alteration of neighboring teeth, as is the case with dental bridges. This helps maintain the integrity of your natural teeth, promoting better long-term oral health.

  • No Slippage or Discomfort

Unlike removable dentures, dental implants are securely anchored in your jawbone. This eliminates concerns about slippage, discomfort, or the need for adhesives.

  • Improved Confidence and Self-Esteem

A complete smile contributes to your overall appearance and self-esteem. Dental implants restore your smile, allowing you to confidently interact with others without worrying about gaps in your teeth.

  • Prevents Shifting of Teeth

A missing tooth can cause adjacent teeth to shift out of position over time. Dental implants help maintain the alignment of your teeth, preventing potential bite problems.
